A Winning Marriage: Fighting the 'Good Fight'

Wedding Cake Bride and GroomBack to BackDid you know that a healthy marriage is not free from conflicts?

Hand HoldingConflicts are normal in close friendships and certainly in a marriage. How you work through such difficulties will be a key indicator of your fulfillment in marriage.

So...how do you have a “good fight” where your marriage wins?

Remember that a conflict exposes an issue that will lead to isolation if it is not faced honestly and promptly. As you focus on the issue without assuming wrong motives or attacking your partner, seek God’s wisdom in understanding your spouse rather than winning the argument. This will require the discipline of listening and the art of asking questions.

God Lays Out Simple Blueprint for Marriage

Ring on Bible with Heart-Shaped Shadow Did you know that God designed marriage so that two very different people can learn to depend on God’s strength in this intimate relationship? Blueprint

Leaving father and mother and bringing with them unanticipated expectations, a husband and wife are joined together to begin a new family. Each day they have an opportunity to apply more glue to the oneness God intends and each longs to experience.

The plan is simple: the husband sacrificially loves his wife and the wife consistently respects her husband. Simple, yet both partners need supernatural strength.

Fingerprint of Marriage: Biblical Design, No Ambiguity

Man and Woman Silhouettes Holding Hands Did you know that marriage is a relationship defined by creation, not by culture?

Man created as male and female uniquely reflects God’s image. God exists as three distinct, yet equal persons relating in perfect unity, unleashing an astonishing creation crowned by human beings. This divine fingerprint of diversity embracing unity to unleash creativity is seen in both the physical and spiritual realms.

From the creation account to Jesus’ compelling teaching, marriage is revealed without ambiguity as one man and one woman united for a lifetime, diverse genders becoming one flesh to produce new life.

Championship Story: Chance to Be a Game-Changer

Rose BowlOn January 1, 2011, Ken and Kathy enjoyed attending the Rose Bowl. After investing 17 years as the chaplain of the TCU football team, it was an amazing experience. Kathy was full of joy. She sat on the fifth row, watching the game with genuine interest through eyes that preferred basketball (she is a Tarheel). Though she only knew a handful of the players and coaches, she was excited when TCU won. She had an after-game field pass and happily made her way to share the confetti-filled celebration with the team in that majestic stadium.

I had a sideline pass, watched the game a few feet from the action, hugging players after they made great plays and attempting to be as vocal as possible in his support. He knew many of them well after years of conversations during road trips and after practices. There was a lump in Ken’s throat as he watched happy tears flow down the faces of dozens of strong, athletic students and coaches who swarmed the field celebrating their win over a powerful Wisconsin team.

Pray Today – Rejoice Forever

Jumping for Joy in Front of CloudsDid you know that God treasures our prayers?

According to Revelation 5, the glories of heavenly worship include aromas released through the prayers of believers.

Long after we have forgotten the delights of adoration, the cleansing of confession, the joy of thanksgiving and the urgency of our petitions, we will be reunited with our prayers, preserved by God as tokens of His amazing grace.

Simmering in golden bowls, the scent of God’s faithful goodness in answering our prayers will fill this eternal sanctuary as the throng declares “Worthy is the Lamb!”

Taking a Step Deeper In Your Walk With Christ

Jodie SweetI have attended thousands of church services, Bible studies, conferences, Sunday School classes, and small groups...all of which serve a unique purpose in spiritual growth and discipleship.

However, as I have recently become involved in one-on-one discipling, I have found it to be unlike anything else I have attended!

This discipleship process has truly been life-changing! It not only encourages believers to take a step deeper in their walk with Christ through the encouragement of a mentor, but it also challenges believers to depend upon Christ while stepping out in faith to mentor others.

The Lord has used my recent experiences with mentoring to create a desire in me to continue this type of ministry in the future!

The Ultimate Prayer Group

Holding Hands Around the WorldDid you know that we never pray alone?

Even in the darkness of early morning or the hush of our quiet place, if we know Jesus Christ, we have never prayed alone. At this moment, Jesus is at the right hand of God interceding for us, fulfilling His commitment to “save completely those who come to God.”

But that’s not all.

God's Answer to Our Prayers: 'A Woven Tapestry of Grace'

GraceDid you know that our Heavenly Father always answers our prayers?

Sometimes it is “Yes,” and we celebrate His kindness.

It may be “No,” and the sandpaper of God’s providence continues it’s transforming work. And as we learn from the country western classic, “some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.”

Complete Transformation

James WomackLaunching multipliers has impacted every area of my life. This approach places an emphasis on the individual and personal transformation.

As a father of seven, a former adjunct seminary professor and now a pastor with 20 years of active ministry,  this is by far one of the most catalytic things I've done. So much so, it is the strategy for reproducing multipliers in our church.

'Lay Up Treasure for Eternity'

Question Mark Made of Game Piece PeopleDid you know that good questions strengthen relationships?

Beyond the obvious benefits of discovering information about other people, good questions give us insights into their joys and concerns, enlarging our capacity for the laser-focused wisdom and encouragement of life’s best friendships.

Good questions reveal that we genuinely care and are willing to invest our most precious resource, time, in a relationship that is valuable to us. They stimulate the rabbit trails of conversation that end in tears or laughter...and deeper friendships.

Since God has an eternal purpose for our relationships through Jesus Christ, the questions which refresh families and friendships are a special way to lay up treasure for eternity.
