Did you know that prayer changes us more than it changes our circumstances?
God often works to deliver us from our difficulties. But His focus is on transforming our perspective and strengthening our character, not moderating our discomforts.
God knows our struggle with spiritual ADD, and life’s pain is a distinctive way for Him to get and keep our attention. While we may draw near in adoration and thanksgiving, we cling to God during sober confession and tearful petition. These wean us from the illusion that our deepest fulfillment can be found in the swirl of this life.
Prayer is an instrument to conform us to His Son, to draw us toward “not my will, but Yours be done.” We are grateful for His kindnesses, but our eternal worship will be fueled by His relentless, life-changing purpose.
